About the Level 1 - Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi (IIQTC) Community Practice Leader Training – 1st of 3 Levels of the 200 Hour Teacher Certification Training

View Certification Overview

Are you excited about a new profession or an added skill for your place in the wellness revolution? Qigong and Tai Chi are among the most eloquent forms of Mind-Body Practice (mindfulness in motion, exercise energetics) ever developed.

Oprah is talking about it. The research is pouring in. Time Magazine wrote, “Tai Chi is the perfect exercise.” Wall Street Journal reported, “It is apparent that Tiger Woods practices Qigong.” A guest on Oprah said, “We used Qigong to change our lives.”

The Qi wave, the Mind/Body practice wave, is rising. Within two years Qigong and Tai Chi will be in every school, university, social service agency, military base, hospital, fitness center, YMCA, prison, faith ministry and spa in the world. Imagine being a part of that!

Our IIQTC teacher trainees launch their professional career in Mind/Body practice with in depth exploration of Qigong and Tai Chi. Our goal is to make these ancient Qi cultivation arts accessible and thoroughly aligned with the holistic principles, contemporary science and the practices and philosophies of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

We will begin with Dr. Roger Jahnke's acclaimed Healer Within material, an approach to Qigong that is carefully tailored for mainstream organizations. The Healer Within practices are distilled from the Vitality Medical Qigong Method (Bu Zheng Qigong) and is used in programs throughout North and South America and Europe.

To penetrate into the heart of Qigong and Tai Chi, we journey through the Ten Phases of Cultivation and Mastery from Dr. Jahnke's The Healing Promise of Qi, which has quickly become a classic in the emerging literature of Chinese medicine, Mind/Body practice and Complementary Medicine in the Western cultures. The practices from the 9 Phase Integral Qigong™ Form are intentfully integrated from an array of traditional ancient forms. We will conclude by learning a number of China's most ancient practices (Tendon Changing and Marrow Bathing), contemporary practices (spontaneous Qigong and Tai Chi) as well as beginning a preliminary survey of Nei Dan (inner alchemy). Throughout we will explore simple forms of Qigong, Tai Chi (Tai Chi Easy™), Transmitting Qi (Wai Gong) and Qigong Healing.

Along with the teacher training material, the tone of these retreats is one of reverence, joy, introspection, and service. We will create a deep experience with meditation, mindfulness, life long learning, and personal cultivation of physical vitality and well being, emotional clarity and spiritual enrichment. Bring your journal, your favorite inspirational texts and a sense of openness. You will gain practical experience in leading Qigong community practice in a group setting that is non-competitive and a lot of fun.

The Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi (IIQTC) is among the most credible training and research institutes outside of China. The IIQTC has trained over 700 teachers and practice leaders internationally – United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, Asia, United Kingdom, Europe, Australia.

Shuttle Registration:

CYJ is approximately a 50-minute drive from the nearest airport, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. For your travel convenience, the IIQTC has arranged for a one-time shuttle to run from the Austin airport to CYJ on April 29, and again one time from CYJ to Austin airport on May 6. While there is a fee to reserve your seat, the fee is less than paying for a taxi ride.

You may choose to register for a Round-Trip shuttle fare, or a One-Way shuttle fare, depending on your needs. The fees are:

$155.00 Round Trip
$ 85.00  One Way

Note that a taxi would cost approximately $104.00 (before tip), one way only.

In order to take advantage of this Shuttle service, you must make your flight arrangements according to the below scheduling parameters:

April 29, 2010: Flight must arrive in Austin no later than 2:30 pm
May 6, 2010:  Flight must depart Austin 3:00 pm or later

These times are critical for your on-time arrival at the retreat center on April 29, as well as to safeguard against missing your outbound flight following course completion on the May 6. While we have found that this timeframe can accommodate many people, we realize it may not be able to accommodate everyone.

Because important itinerary details are needed to complete your reservation, please do not register for the Shuttle until you have made your flight arrangements accordingly.

Once you have made your flight arrangements (according to the guidelines noted above), please click here to register for the Shuttle Service. You will first be asked for your itinerary information; once you "submit" these details you will be taken to a page where you can pay for your reservation.

If you are unable to take advantage of this Shuttle, please do make your travel arrangements so you can arrive at CYJ around 4:00 pm on April 29. You are encouraged to unpack, unwind, and join the group for dinner prior to the first evening's training session.
